MONTY CRISWELL
Monty Criswell is a Grammy- and CMA-nominated country songwriter, speaker, and cancer survivor whose career spans more than three decades in Nashville. With over 300 songs recorded and at least one No. 1 hit in each of the last three decades, Monty has written 21 Top 40 singles, including the CMA Single of the Year “I Saw God Today” (George Strait), as well as “Five More Minutes” (Scotty McCreery) and “Hell Of A View” (Eric Church).
Originally from the coast of Alabama, Monty began his professional songwriting career in 1993 after graduating from the University of Alabama and making the life-changing decision to pass on law school to pursue music. His songs have been recorded by some of the biggest names in country music, including Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw, Trace Adkins, Parker McCollum, and Chris Young, and have been featured across major platforms like ESPN, ABC, the SEC Network, and the Yellowstone series.
In 2008, Monty won the CMA Award for Single of the Year for “I Saw God Today,” and he has earned multiple Grammy nominations for Country Song of the Year, along with nominations from the ACM, Dove Awards, and Canadian Country Music Association.
At the height of his career, Monty faced a life-altering diagnosis of stage 3 colon cancer—an experience that reshaped his faith, his purpose, and his perspective on life.
